Mitchell Starc has yet again showed his supremacy, as the Australian speedster now showed the way to Virat Kohli in the ongoing second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against India. After sending Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul back to the pavilion, Starc made a forgettable outing for Kohli.
On the first ball of the 21st over, Virat Kohli was caught out for just 7 runs off 8 balls in the ongoing Day-Night Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval on Day. It was a big breakthrough for Australia. Mitchell Starc bowled a short delivery outside off, around the fifth or sixth stump line.
Mitchell Starc sends Virat Kohli packing for just 7 in Adelaide Test
The Indian batting icon was a bit late in pulling his bat away, and the ball edged off the face of the bat. The ball went low to Steve Smith at second slip, who was on his knees as he took the catch easily to help Australia get the fourth wicket in the first session in Adelaide.
Interestingly, Smith looked surprised, probably not seeing the ball until late, while Virat Kohli was clearly seen disappointed, looking at the pitch and the toe of his bat before walking off. It was a ball the right-hander could have left alone, but just like in the Perth Test, he failed to get his bat out of the way of the late delivery, and it cost him dearly against Mitchell Starc.
A good player is a player who learns from his mistakes.

Virat Kohli’s wicket put India under immense pressure, and now social media is flooded with reactions to the former Indian batter’s other flop show with the bat. While many were trolling Kohli for repeating the same mistake, some suggested the batting icon revisit his batting technique.
Indian fans were hoping Virat Kohli would continue to carry his form forward in the second Test after smashing an unbeaten hundred in the second innings of the first Test in Perth, but the senior batter yet again disappointed one and all.
However, fans are now hoping to see big innings from Virat Kohli in the second Test against Australia as India is already in danger at the Adelaide Oval.
Here’s how fans react to Virat Kohli’s failure in Adelaide Test:

#ViratKohli Virat Kohli may revisit his technique. He may watch his old videos when in good form and scoring heavily. But last couple of years his balance is not same while striking the ball. His head tend to fall outside the line of the ball! For long this correction is pending.

Starc coming for a second spell lifts Australia. Big wicket of #ViratKohli and then a collapse. Three quick wickets in dramatic pre-lunch session. Kohli again looked undecided about the bounce on the corridor of uncertainity. #IndvsAus #PinkballTest #BorderGavaskarTrophy

Sanjay, you have always righly mentioned how Virat jumps onto the front foot to deliveries that should be played off the backfoot.

Australia dominate the first session in Adelaide Test, thanks to Mitchell Starc
Meanwhile, Australia dominated the first session, claiming four wickets, with three falling in the last 20 minutes, against India in the ongoing Adelaide Test. The session began with an early breakthrough as Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a golden duck, with the late swing proving too much for the young Indian opener in the ongoing Pink-Ball Test.
After that, KL Rahul found his rhythm, playing some beautiful cover drives, and his partnership with Shubman Gill began to look dangerous after he was caught off a no-ball and dropped. It forced the Australian captain, Pat Cummins, to make bowling changes.
Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc were brought back into the attack, and the senior pacer struck again, getting Rahul out for 37 runs off 64 balls. Then, Lyon was taken off after just one over, and Scott Boland returned to the attack and removed Shubman Gill for 31 runs off 51 balls.
Later, Kohli was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for just 7 runs. In the final 20 minutes, Australia took three key wickets, swinging the session firmly in their favor. India now needs a solid partnership to recover from the damage of 82/4 in the ongoing Day-Night Test.
