Ira Jadhav

14-year-old Ira Jadhav entered her name in the record books after her magnificent effort with the bat in the Women’s U-19 One Day Cup on Sunday (12th January). She became the first Indian women’s cricketer to score a triple century in a limited-overs match.

Ira Jadhav achieved the feat while playing for Mumbai in the Women’s U-19 One Day Cup match played against Meghalaya. The match between the two teams took place at the Alur Cricket Ground, and it saw history getting scripted by the young batter.

Ira Jadhav played a humongous innings of 346* runs from 157 balls, helping Mumbai post a total of 563 runs on the board

Ira Jadhav, who has been named as one of the three standby players for India in the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup, played a humongous innings of 346 runs from 157 balls. This saw her team, Mumbai, posting a gigantic total on the board and taking command of the game.

Ira Jadhav was at her aggressive best as she slammed 42 fours and 16 sixes in her innings. The 14-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong in her innings as she added 274 runs for the second wicket with captain Hurley Gala (116) and, after that, stitched 186 runs for the third wicket with Diksha Pawar (39).

Thanks to her magnificent effort with the bat, Mumbai posted a total of 563 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Her innings surely would’ve sent a strong message to the selectors and might even force them to add the batter to the main squad for the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup.

Ira Jadhav also became the first ever Indian cricketer to hit triple century in the 50-over cricket. If given the opportunity in the main squad for the World Cup, she would be keen to carry her good form in the tournament and help the team lift the tournament.

Her staggering effort with the bat saw even former India Women’s National Cricket Team skipper Diana Edulji lauding her for the effort. She told the Times of India: “Hats off to Ira, who is a u-15 player n playing all age groups. Hope to see her in Indian colours.”

Ira Jadhav recently became the youngest player to register for the WPL 2025 auction

Ira Jadhav recently became the youngest player to register for the WPL 2025 auction. However, she went unsold, but with her now playing a gigantic innings, she surely would be under the radar of some franchises, especially if there were injuries in the camp before or during the tournament.

Barring her, only four women cricketers have scored a double century at the U19 level. These include the current India captain, Smriti Mandhana (224 not out in 2013), Raghvi Bist (219 not out), Jemimah Rodrigues (202 not out), and Sanika Chalke (200).
