In the 12th match of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024, India U19 triumphed over UAE U19 by 10 wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The 13-year-old prodigy, Indian opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an outstanding unbeaten half-century, steering India to a remarkable victory. This comprehensive win secured India’s place in the tournament semifinals, where they will face Sri Lanka U19 on Friday, (December 6).

UAE struggles against India’s bowling attack

Winning the toss, UAE opted to bat first. However, their innings struggled to gather momentum, finishing at 137 all out in 44 overs. Middle-order batter Rayan Khan provided the only notable resistance with a solid 35 off 48 balls, including three fours and a six. The Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Yudhajit Guha leading the attack, claiming 3 wickets for 21 runs in his 7 overs. Chetan Sharma also played a crucial role, picking up 2 wickets in his economical 8-over spell, conceding just 28 runs.

India’s dominance secures Semifinal berth

India’s response was nothing short of spectacular. Openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre dismantled the UAE bowling attack with ease, chasing down the target of 138 in just 16.1 overs without losing a wicket. Vaibhav, remained unbeaten on 76 off 46 balls, showcasing his maturity and flair with three fours and three sixes. Mhatre complemented him brilliantly, scoring a blistering 67 not out off 51 balls, featuring 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Mhatre’s all-around contribution earned him the Player of the Match award. Apart from his unbeaten half-century, he also chipped in with a vital wicket during UAE’s innings, underlining his value to the team.
