Mumbai Indians will be eyeing a better performance in IPL 2025 after missing out on the playoffs once again in the 2024 season. The five-time champions finished at the bottom of the points table and will be desperate to turn things around in the forthcoming season.

They have not even qualified for the final since winning the fifth title in 2020. Last season, they changed their captain as well but it did not change their fortunes as they struggled throughout IPL 2024. For the upcoming season, Mumbai have signed up a number of players in the mega auction.

Before the auction, they had also managed to retain the core of their squad. While Mumbai will be looking to do well next season, they could feel the need for several players they failed to sign in the auction. So here we are taking a look at three such players.

IPL 2025: Players Mumbai Indians will regret missing out on

Quinton de Kock:

After releasing Ishan Kishan, Mumbai needed an opening partner for Rohit Sharma and they went for their former player Quinton de Kock. Mumbai Indians made the second bid for the player but eventually pulled out of the race.

They went to INR 3.40 crore mark before South Africa was signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 3.60 crore.

De Kock is one of the most experienced batters in the world at present and has ample experience in the IPL. He has also won the IPL in the past with Mumbai Indians. In the last season, he played for Lucknow Super Giants and scored 250 runs in 11 games.

Ishan Kishan:

After missing out on de Kock, Mumbai went for their former player Ishan Kishan. They made the first bid for the wicketkeeper-batsman but pulled out soon. Sunrisers Hyderabad eventually signed up Kishan for INR 11.25 crore.

Kishan has been playing for Mumbai since 2018 and won two IPL titles with them. In the last season, he played 14 games and scored 320 runs.

Jofra Archer:

Mumbai bid for Jofra Archer as well but could not sign him up either. The Jasprit Bumrah-Jofra Archer partnership would have been a phenomenal one for the five-time champions.

They went big for the England star but eventually lost the race. Mumbai Indians’ last bid for Archer was INR 12.25 crore. In the end, Archer was signed up by Rajasthan Royals for 12.50 crore.
