Virat Kohli Replaces Rohit Sharma As Skipper

Team India captain Rohit Sharma revealed the reason why fans were banned from attending the team’s practice sessions during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) in Australia. Rohit Sharma stated that the Indian team didn’t want to leak their tactics and plans, calling net sessions very private.

India decided to ban open training sessions for the rest of the series due to the unruly conduct of the general public during their practice session in Adelaide. Around 5,000 spectators had gathered to watch the team, but constant noise and requests for photos led the management to enforce the ban.

Speaking to reporters, Rohit Sharma opened up about banning fans from attending their practice sessions in Australia. Sharma said that net sessions are private, with many discussions and tactics taking place. He pointed out that this was the first time they had seen such a large crowd during training.

“You know, the net sessions are very private, and this was the first time ever I saw so many people during the nets. And when you’re training, when you’re practising, there are a lot of conversation that happens, and those conversations are very private. We don’t want anyone to hear those conversations. It is as simple as that because there’s a lot of planning,” Rohit said in the press conference.

There Are Five Days of Test Cricket – Rohit Sharma

The 37-year-old jokingly said that fans should attend the 5-day Test matches instead of practice sessions. He said that there’s a lot of discussion during training.

“There’s a lot of talking that happens. And the crowds are very close to that practice facility. There are five days of Test cricket. They can come and watch us there,” Rohit added.

Third Test Between India and Australia to Take Place in Brisbane

KL Rahul described the open net session in Adelaide as a unique experience, adding that he wasn’t accustomed to having fans so close during practice. In response to concerns raised by the Indian team, a Cricket Australia spokesperson confirmed that future practice sessions would be held privately.

Australia bounced back in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by winning the second Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets. The hosts leveled the ongoing five-match Test series 1-1. The pink-ball Test ended in just two-and-a-half days, and the teams will meet again for the third Test in Brisbane, starting on December 14.
