In a fresh set of reports in RaySportz, it is learned that things between Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami are not good. The duo seemingly have been involved in a rift, and this is something that has delayed the inclusion of a pacer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
The reports claimed that Rohit and Shami were involved in a fight after the first Test against New Zealand, which recently took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It is learned that both the players also abused each other and things looked heated up.
Rohit Sharma distances himself from Mohammed Shami after the fight, security officials deny pacer entry into Indian dressing room
After that incident, Rohit distanced himself from Shami, but the pacer attempted to talk to the captain in the Indian dressing room. However, the pacer wasn’t allowed inside the room by the security officials, who cited that he wasn’t part of the Indian squad and, hence, he could not enter the dressing room.
This reportedly didn’t go well with Mohammed Shami as he had a heated conversation with the security officials too. But the fast bowler waited till evening as he was keen to have a conversation with India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma.
As the duo met up in the evening, Mohammed Shami furiously asked Rohit Sharma why he gave a wrong statement about him in the media. The India Captain had mentioned that the fast bowler is half-fit and won’t be traveling to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

There were reports at that time that claimed that Shami had experienced swelling in the knees, but the pacer lashed out at the media, saying that he was fit. However, later, skipper Rohit Sharma mentioned that the fast bowler had swelling and is getting monitored ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, leading to a clash of statements.
The reports claimed that the heated conversation between Rohit Sharma and Shami is the major reason why the pacer hasn’t joined the team in Australia despite continuously playing in the domestic circuit. After the Adelaide Test loss, the skipper said that doors are open for fast bowlers, but the team is still awaiting a fitness report.
Mohammed Shami will be joining the Indian team in Brisbane, to be available for the last two games
It is learned that Mohammed Shami will be joining the Indian team in Brisbane. Although he won’t be playing the third Test, the fast bowler is likely to be available for the last two games of the series, which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney Cricket Ground respectively.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 currently stays levelled at 1-1. India National Cricket Team won the first game by 295 runs in Perth before Australia National Cricket Team made a comeback in Adelaide, winning by 10 wickets. The third match begins on Saturday (14th December).
