Australian national cricket team players, including Travis Head, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell, shared their favorite Indian players from their childhood. Travis Head named Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar as his all-time favorite, and other Australian players also named their top Indian cricket heroes.
The Australian cricket team is currently engaging in a five-match Test series against the Indian cricket team at home. The Pat Cummins-led side suffered a humiliating 295-run defeat in the series opener in Perth. However, they bounced back to level the series with a comfortable 10-wicket win in Adelaide.
It Will Have to Be Sachin Tendulkar – Travis Head
In a video shared by ABC SPORT on X (formerly known as Twitter), Travis Head, Steve Smith, and Pat Cummins all named Sachin Tendulkar as their favorite Indian cricketer while growing up.
Head said that he admired Tendulkar for his ability to bat for long periods. Smith praised his style and skill, while Cummins simply noted that Tendulkar was the obvious choice for many fans.
“It will have to be Tendulkar. He’s the most we watched on TV batting. Cause no one else would. He used to bat the whole time,” Travis Head said.
“Sachin. I mean he was stylish, gun batter. And arguably one of the best ever to play,” Steve Smith stated.
“Obvious one is Sachin Tendulkar growing up watching him,” Pat Cummins opined.

Everyone Used to Love Watching Sachin Tendulkar – Glenn Maxwell
Alex Carey shared that MS Dhoni was a player he admired growing up, adding that he had the chance to play against him. Glenn Maxwell said that everyone used to love Sachin Tendulkar. Maxwell highlighted VVS Laxman for his unique style and recalled Laxman’s memorable performances.
“MS Dhoni, he was probably old enough when I was growing up. I played against him. And yeah I love him as a player,” Alex Carey said.
“Everyone used to love watching Sachin, just because it was Sachin. He was pretty awesome, but I think another different one was VVS Laxman. Used to love the way he used to just whip the ball from outside off stump. And then hit the same ball through cover. He scored a couple of 160s at the SCG. He’s the one I used to love watching,” Glenn Maxwell stated.
