Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have trained hard at the Adelaide Oval after the Day-Night Test match between Australia and India ended in just 2 days and one session with the hosts winning the game by 10 wickets to level the ongoing five-match Test series 1-1.
After the conclusion of the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Adelaide, the Indian cricket team hit the nets at the Adelaide Oval, as they are aiming to make a strong comeback in the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, starting on December 14.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma hit the nets in Adelaide as India prepares for the Gabba Test
It is being said that India held an optional training session on Tuesday, December 10, but most of the senior players, especially batters, were seen sweating it out at the Adelaide Oval. Indian batters Virat Kohli, Rohit, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill continued their preparations in Adelaide ahead of the third Test in Brisbane.

It is also being said that Virat Kohli was working on his backfoot game during the practice session. The dashing right-handed batter focused on improving his backfoot play and addressing the issue of getting caught in the slips while pressing the ball on his front foot.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharmaโs batting position has been a major topic of discussion among cricket experts after India suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Pink-ball Test, but it is highly likely that the India captain will not make any changes to his batting position for the Gabba Test.
Who will open with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the third Test against Australia?
Rohit batted at No. 6 in the Day-Night Test, allowing KL Rahul to continue as an opener alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, but both openers struggled with the bat, sparking calls for the Indian skipper to return to his opening position.
However, Rohit looks determined to stay in the middle order for at least one more game, and it was cleared during Indiaโs net session in Adelaide. During India’s net session in Adelaide on Tuesday, it was a clear hint that there would be no change in the batting order from the Adelaide Test for the upcoming Brisbane Test against Australia.
In the viral pictures and video clips, Rohit was seen continuing to hold his position in the middle order. In the clip, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit were seen batting side by side in the nets in Adelaide.
Rohit Sharma is likely to bat in the middle-lower order in Brisbane
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the first to bat, followed by Virat Kohli, Rohit, and Rishabh Pant. This batting order suggested that Rohit might not be interested in moving Rahul to the middle order for the upcoming third Test at the Gabba.

Notably, Indian batters had a really forgettable outing in the pink-ball Test. India lost all 20 wickets in just 81 overs, facing only 486 ballsโthe fourth fewest deliveries India faced in their Test history. The fewest India has faced was in 1952 against England, when they lost 20 wickets in just 349 balls.
