Before his failure in the pink-ball Test, Rohit failed to deliver against New Zealand in the recent home Test series and Bangladesh as well. However, former Indian cricketer and national selector Jatin Paranjape has thrown his support behind Rohit Sharma, saying that the Indian skipper’s class will shine through despite recent failures with the bat.

Paranjape also stressed that the form is temporary, but class is permanent. The former Indian selector also believes that the Mumbai batter will bounce back in the remaining matches of the ongoing five-match Test series in Australia. He was confident that Rohit would find his rhythm again, stressing that being from Mumbai gives him a certain edge, which irked many.
Jatin Paranjape was quoted as saying by IANS: “I know he’s had a really bad run in the last few Test innings. But I think form is temporary, and class is permanent. I have a very, very good feeling about Rohit Sharma coming good, as let’s not forget that he’s a Mumbai batter.”

However, Dodda Ganesh, former India and Karnataka cricketer, was not pleased with Jatin Paranjape’s take on the right-handed batter, taking a swipe at the former Mumbai batter for his not-so-logical statement. Ganesh was not happy with Paranjape’s reference to Sharma’s Mumbai roots as a reason for his possible comeback to his form.
Even Dodda Ganesh took to his social media handle X, questioning the “entitlement” behind the idea that being from a certain region guarantees success. Ganesh posted on X: “What kind of an entitlement is this? Someone can’t be good just because he hails from a particular place.”

Rohit Sharma’s batting experiment fails in Adelaide
Currently, the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is tied at 1-1 between India and Australia, and the crucial third match will be played at The Gabba, Brisbane, from December 14. Rohit Sharma had dropped himself down the batting order to allow KL Rahul to continue as an opener.

However, the move backfired, and both Rahul and Rohit failed to deliver with the bat, and India faced a crushing defeat in the Adelaide Test against Australia. After the Adelaide Test, former Indian captains Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri suggested Rohit return as an opener in the Gabba Test.
Notably, Rohit became the second Indian skipper after Virat Kohli to lose at least one match each in all three formats of the game by 10 wickets after losing the Day-Night Test to Australia by the same margin at the Adelaide Oval. With this win, the hosts levelled the ongoing BGT series.
