Team India skipper Rohit Sharma’s interactions caught on stump mics have been a regular source of entertainment for fans, with his banter often making headlines. Rohit Sharma was caught on the stump mic taking a humorous jibe at bowler Akash Deep on Day 3 of the third Test against Australia.
Australia resumed third-day play at 405/7 at the Gabba in Brisbane on Monday, December 16. Middle-order batters Steve Smith and Travis Head smashed centuries to keep India under pressure in the match. Akash Deep, who replaced Harshit Rana, remained wicketless after the entire Day 2 of the Test.

On the third day of the match, Rohit Sharma lost his cool when Akash Deep bowled a delivery far outside the crease. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant had to dive full length to prevent a boundary. This incident took place in the 114th over of Australia’s innings while Alex Carey was batting against Akash Deep.
Rishabh Pant made a full-length dive to stop the ball from reaching the boundary, but the hosts still ran two byes, with the umpire signaling it wide. This delivery frustrated Rohit Sharma, who was heard on the stump mic scolding Akash. The commentators had a laugh at the Indian skipper’s reaction. “Abe sar mein kuch hai? (Is there anything in your brain?),” Rohit said.

Akash Deep took his first wicket on Australian soil a few overs later. Alex Carey, who was on 70, played a pull shot, but Shubman Gill caught it at mid-wicket. Australia was bowled out for 445 runs. Deep bowled 29.5 overs, including five maidens, and conceded 95 runs, being unlucky not to pick up more wickets.
Team India’s Top Order Collapses as India Lose Four Wickets for Less Than 50 Runs
India’s top-order collapse left them struggling at 48/4 during a stop-start second session at the Gabba. Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, while Josh Hazelwood removed Virat Kohli. Following a rain delay, wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant was also dismissed.
At tea, KL Rahul was unbeaten on 30, with Rohit Sharma yet to score. India needed 245 more runs to avoid the follow-on. With more rain expected, India’s priority is to avoid the follow-on and bat for enough time to secure a draw, leaving the series tied at 1-1 before heading to Melbourne.
Jasprit Bumrah finished the first innings with 6-76 from 28 overs, including seven maidens. Heβs the leading wicket-taker of the series with 18 wickets at an outstanding average of 11.72 and strike rate of 27.33, with a best figures of 6/76.
