The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held a Governing Board meeting in Islamabad, led by Mohsin Naqvi, to discuss updates on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has assured the Pakistan Cricket Board of hosting opportunities for future events in the country.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly agreed to host the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model, with India‘s matches to be played in Dubai. However, they have set a condition that all future ICC events hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should also be played in the same hybrid model.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule Expected to Be Announced Soon

According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that agreements with the ICC and BCCI for the Champions Trophy have been finalized, with only the documentation remaining. The tournament schedule is expected to be announced in the next 1-2 days.

“According to sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi revealed that agreements with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been finalized, with only documentation pending. The Champions Trophy schedule is expected to be announced within the next 1-2 days,” Cricket Pakistan reported

PCB Chairman Reveals India Offered Financial Compensation for Tournament

The PCB chairman revealed that India had offered financial compensation to Pakistan if their team did not travel for the tournament. However, Pakistan rejected this offer, prioritizing national pride over monetary considerations.

The PCB proposed a new model ensuring that for the next three years, neither India nor Pakistan would host ICC teams from the other country.

Pakistan was granted the right to host a women’s tournament in 2028. Concerns over the absence of major tournaments in Pakistan over the next few years were addressed by the ICC, which assured the PCB of hosting opportunities for future events in the country.

“We Will Leave No Stone Unturned in Preserving the Prestige of This Event” – Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking during the 76th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting in Islamabad, Naqvi also promised that all participating teams would receive a warm welcome.

“From day one, our focus has been on ensuring success for Pakistan and cricket. We will leave no stone unturned in preserving the prestige of this event. All participating teams will receive a warm welcome,” said Naqvi.

“Cricket is a sport loved by millions, and we believe it should remain free from politics,” he added.

Under the new arrangement, India will play their matches in the UAE for the Champions Trophy rather than traveling to Pakistan. Similarly, for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s matches, including the Indo-Pak clash, will be held in Sri Lanka, as Pakistan will not travel to India for the event.
