Jaker Ali and Bangladesh team celebrating with the trophy

After the West Indies dominated them in the ODI series and won all three games, Bangladesh finally got their revenge back in the T20I series. The Bangladeshi side won the final match of the series in an emphatic manner by 80 runs putting an end to the run-chase in just 16.4 overs. The entire West Indies batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards in front of a solid bowling display from Rishad Hossain, who clinched 3 wickets for his side. Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan were also impressive with the ball and took 2 wickets each.

Bangladesh dominated West Indies both with the bat and bowl

It was a day that went well for the Bangladeshi team from the beginning. Litton Das won the toss and elected to bat first. A solid start from the two openers provided the much needed base to put runs on the board. With conditions favouring the batters at the Arnos Vale Ground, Bangladesh managed to put together a total of 189/7 runs in their 20 overs. The highlight of Bangladesh batting effort was an unbeaten 72 run knock from Jaker Ali off 41 balls. Ali smashed 6 sixes in his emphatic innings to put Bangladesh in an advantageous position.

A disappointing performance from the West Indies

The West Indies repeated similar mistakes in the final match of the series. The bowlers proved to be too costly for the team, particularly Alzarri Joseph who gave away 59 runs in his 4 overs. The complacency from the bowling side passed on to the batters as soon as Windies came out to chase the total. Soft dismissals were the story of the night for the Caribbean batting effort. It started with Johnson Charles who gave away his wicket due to a miscommunication with Rovman Powell on the striker’s end and a direct hit from Hossain. Charles was looking set, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls. Romario Shepherd too, gave away his wicket cheaply scoring 33 runs for his team. The continuous fall of wickets for the West Indies resulted in the entire squad getting all-out for just 109 runs. Ali was named Player of the match for his brilliant batting display. Hasan, who has been a constant pillar of strength for his team both with the bat and bowl, was named Player of the series.
