Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli has expressed gratitude to his lifelong friend Sachin Tendulkar as he recovers from a recent health setback in the Thane Hospital. Kambli was admitted to a private hospital in Thane, Aakriti Hospital after he complained of a urinary infection and cramps.

Notably, Vinod Kambli was reportedly taken to a hospital in Thane’s Kalher area by a fan who owns the facility. Now, Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who is treating Vinod Kambli, revealed that after several medical tests, doctors at Aakriti Hospital discovered clots in the former Indian cricketer’s brain.

Speaking about his recovery, Vinod Kambli revealed that he is feeling better and remains deeply connected to his cricketing journey after singing Queen’s iconic 1977 classic song ‘We Are the Champions.’ The former left-handed batter also recalled his achievements with the bat.

Vinod Kambli was quoted as saying by ANI: “I am feeling better now…I will never leave this (cricket) because I remember the number of centuries and double centuries I have hit…We are three left-handers in the family.”

Appreciating the support from his former teammate and old friend, Kambli thanked Sachin Tendulkar while revealing the blessings and prayers from the legendary cricketer during this challenging time. He added, “When I wasn’t well, he (Sachin) said he has his blessings. I am thankful to him.”

Meanwhile, Vinod Kambli is currently recovering at Aakriti Hospital after doctors detected clots in his brain. He was admitted to the hospital due to muscle cramps, dizziness, and difficulty walking, and now Aakriti Hospital’s Chief Intensivist, Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, provided a fresh update on the former batter.

Tests revealed a urine infection, sodium and potassium deficiency, and old clots from a recent stroke. Dr. Dwivedi revealed that Kambli was treated in the ICU due to low blood pressure, but he is now stable. The doctor has noted degenerative changes in his brain and is focusing on rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Kambli is expected to be discharged in 2-3 days.

Dr. Vivek Dwivedi was quoted as saying by ANI, “We admitted him on Saturday evening. He was experiencing muscle cramps and dizziness at home… He had a high-grade fever when we brought him to the hospital and difficulty walking due to muscle cramps. On investigation, we found that he had a urine infection and sodium and potassium deficiency, which were causing muscle cramps.

A brain scan revealed that he had old clots because he had suffered a stroke recently. We admitted him to the ICU because he also had low BP… His vitals are stable, but his treatment and physiotherapy are ongoing. We are planning to discharge him in 2-3 days. His brain’s condition is not stable… There are degenerative changes in his brain. So, we are focusing more on rehabilitation.”

Notably, Kambli, who represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs from 1993 to 2000, recently attended the inauguration of a memorial for his legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar at Shivaji Park.
