Vinod Kambli’s condition stabilizes after health scare; Shrikant Shinde announces Rs 5 lakh aid

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli is currently in the ICU of a private hospital in Thane district, and doctors have confirmed that his condition remains stable. Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde, the son of Eknath Shinde, has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to support Vinod Kambli.

The 52-year-old former Indian cricketer was hospitalized at Akruti Hospital near Bhiwandi on Saturday, December 21, due to a severe urinary tract infection. Kambli has been diagnosed with clots in his brain, according to doctors. He is currently receiving treatment for the brain clots at the hospital.

Decision on Non-Invasive Medical Procedure to Be Taken Later – Dr. Vivek Trivedi

Vinod Kambli is responding well to treatment for a urinary tract infection. Dr. Vivek Trivedi, leading the medical team, stated that an MRI was initially planned for Kambli but has been postponed due to a fever he developed. The MRI is needed after medical exams revealed brain clots.

“Doctors were planning to do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) on the former India batter, but since he has developed a fever, a decision on the non-invasive medical procedure will be taken later,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

“The MRI procedure has been necessitated after a series of medical examinations conducted earlier revealed clots in his brain,” Trivedi said.

Vinod Kambli’s Condition to Be Closely Monitored for the Next 24 Hours

Vinod is expected to be moved out of the ICU in a day or two and discharged within four days. Kambli’s condition was critical four days ago due to a severe urinary infection. Dr. Trivedi noted that Kambli’s condition was stabilized, though his blood pressure was fluctuating when he was admitted.

“His condition will be closely monitored for the next 24 hours and a decision taken on shifting him out of the ICU,” he added.

Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde Announces Rs 5 Lakh Financial Assistance for Vinod Kambli

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son, Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde, have come forward to assist former cricketer Vinod Kambli during his hospitalization.

At Eknath Shinde’s direction, Mangesh Chiwte, his Officer on Special Duty (OSD), visited Akruti Hospital to check on Kambli’s condition and ensure that he was receiving the best possible care.

In addition, Shrikant Shinde announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for Kambli, which will be provided through the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation next week. Shrikant also assured Kambli and his family of continued support in the future.

Kambli expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support from the Shinde family, particularly Eknath and Shrikant, and also expressed a desire to personally meet Eknath Shinde to thank him for his concern. Eknath and Shrikant Shinde are expected to visit Kambli in the hospital soon.

The cricket community has also come out in support of Vinod Kambli during his health crisis. Former cricketers, including ex-captains Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have offered their support. Gavaskar, in a conversation with India Today, stated that the 1983 World Cup-winning team is ready to assist Kambli.
