Saim Ayub

Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Saim Ayub has been in the news for the last few days, and the major reason behind that has been the injury that he sustained during the Test series against the South Africa National Cricket Team. The young batter was at the receiving end of an ankle injury, which ruled him out of the second game.

Saim Ayub got injured when he attempted to save the boundary, twisted his ankle, and was taken off the field. The opening batter looked in immense pain, and then the batter was sent to London by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a detailed medical evaluation, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner.

Saim Ayub consulted renowned specialist Dr. Jeyaseelan in London, the doctor advised a six-month rest for batter to allow a full recovery

Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood traveled with Ayub as they consulted renowned specialist Dr. Jeyaseelan. The specialist doctor assessed the young batter and, after that, confirmed that the injury had stabilized. The batter can put weight on the injured ankle cautiously.

Saim Ayub’s injury is a serious one and the batter has been confirmed to have a fracture. But in a positive development, it hasn’t done any long-term damage to the batter. Dr. Jeyaseelan has advised a six-month rest to the batter to allow a full recovery, as per ARY News.

Saim Ayub will be undergoing consultations with a panel of specialists in London

Ayub will be undergoing consultations with a panel of specialists in London. He will also undertake some additional tests, including X-rays, to finalize his treatment plan. But if PCB goes by the advice of Dr Jeyaseelan, then the batter will be ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

However, PCB so far hasn’t given any official statement. Although the inclusion of the batter in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 remains uncertain, the governing body will be taking the call on his inclusion in the team based on further medical reviews and assessments.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi takes a personal interest in the injury of “valuable asset” Saim Ayub

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has taken a personal interest in the injury of Ayub. He has been ensuring that the young batter gets the proper treatment. He called the batter a “valuable asset” and stated that they would be providing all necessary resources for his rehabilitation.

The absence of Saim Ayub will leave a massive void in the Pakistan National Cricket Team as the opening batter has been in a great run of form. He has been going through the purple patch with the bat as he recently slammed two tons in the ODI series against South Africa.

Ayub then scored 14 runs in the first innings and followed it up with a score of 27 runs in the second innings. But if he now fails to play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, it will be a massive blow for the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
