The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially unveiled the national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. This announcement marks a significant step as Bangladesh prepare to compete against some of the world’s best cricket teams in this prestigious One-Day International (ODI) tournament.
Najmul Hossain Shanto returns as captain
Under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, who will captain the side, Bangladesh has named a 15-member squad that blends experience with youthful exuberance. Najmul will captain the team in the tournament, returning to the role after Mehidy Hasan Miraz filled in for him during the previous bilateral series. He has recovered from a groin injury sustained in November.
No place for Litton Das in Bangladesh’s squad
Litton Das has been excluded from the 15-member squad. The decision follows concerns over the wicketkeeper-batter’s poor form, as admitted by Bangladesh chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain in December. Litton had scored just six runs across three ODIs in the Caribbean. With his omission, Jaker Ali is expected to take over the wicketkeeping duties.

Players in focus
Apart from Najmul, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy, and Mustafizur Rahman have rejoined the squad after missing the 3-0 ODI series loss to the West Indies last month. Both Rahim and Hridoy return just in time for the tournament following injuries. The veteran Rahim is back after recovering from a finger injury, while Hridoy, like his captain, has recovered from a groin injury.
