Chasing a total of 183 runs, Australia National Cricket Team batter Steve Smith, who opened the innings for his team, made sure that he gave his side a vital start. The batter, who hit a century in the last game, came up with another magical effort with the bat.

Smith didn’t get the desired support from the others in the chase, but he made sure that he played his part to perfection. The premier batter timed the ball to perfection and slammed the Adelaide Strikers bowlers all over the park.
Smith looked unfazed by the wickets falling at the other end as he made sure that Sydney Sixers kept the run rate on track. The batter oozed his class with the bat and slammed a magnificent half-century in the match, putting the opposition under pressure.
While his innings were for everyone to praise, Steve Smith also came up with a brilliant effort to save his wicket. It happened during the 4th over of the second when Henry Thorton was bowling to the opening batter and almost had his wicket.
Henry Thorton bowled a back-of-a-length delivery on the middle and leg. Steve Smith tried to whip it away and got hit on the pads. The ball almost rolled back onto the stumps. But the batter used his bat to perfection to deflect the ball away and save his wicket.

Smith slammed a magnificent half-century and ended with an innings of 52 runs off 31 balls. The Australia National Cricket Team batter batted with a strike rate of around 168 and also slammed 2 fours and 4 sixes in his innings, taking his team past 80 runs inside 10 overs.
Steve Smith was removed by Jamie Overton in the 10th over. The pacer bowled a short and wide ball outside off, to which the batter went for the late cut. He didn’t hit the gap that he wanted as he ended up hitting straight to the fielder at short third man.
After his wicket, Sydney Sixers lost early wickets and were left tottering at 92/5. The onus now will be on Lachlan Shaw and Ben Dwarhuis to take the team home and help them register another win in the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25.
