However, Konstas remains confident in his batting style and is eager to prove himself during Australia’s upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka. The 19-year-old batter has played two Tests against India and scored 113 runs with the debut score of 60 runs at the MCG, and now he’s excited for the next challenge against Sri Lanka.

The Australian batter has mentioned that playing in front of large crowds in Sri Lanka will be a completely different experience but admitted that the emotions of playing in front of the big crowds may have affected him a bit during the BGT 2024-25 series against India. He Konstas noted that Sri Lanka will be a tough team to beat in their home conditions.

Sam Konstas was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “It’s going to be completely different with the crowds [in Sri Lanka], obviously. It was the first time playing with big crowds, and maybe the emotions got to me a bit, reflecting on it. But obviously Sri Lanka is going to be tough to beat in their home conditions. I’m looking forward to that.”

Meanwhile, the right-handed batter said that it is a great honor to represent his country and play in Sri Lanka. He also noted that Australia has a strong squad, and if he gets the chance to open, he will seize the opportunity with both hands.

However, Travis Head is likely to get promoted to the top order, having previously opened for the Kangaroos in Sri Lanka. Konstas further noted, “It’s obviously a huge honor representing my country and touring Sri Lanka. They’ve welcomed me with open arms, and I’m keen to learn and get better. Obviously, we’ve got a strong squad.”

The Aussie gun signed off by saying, “If I do get the opportunity [to open], hopefully I’ll take it with both hands. I feel like I’ll just keep backing myself. Obviously, I’m going to adapt with my different methods. I can’t wait for that to happen. That’s a dream come true, hopefully, but they (selectors) haven’t said anything.”

Notably, Australia and Sri Lanka will play a two-match Test series, starting on January 29 in Galle, followed by the two ODIs.
