The Adelaide Test has worked wonders for Australia as not only they won the match, but their players also found a much-needed spark for the remaining matches of the series. Australia captain Pat Cummins was one of those players who needed to get himself going ahead of this Test.

Cummins fared poorly in Perth and was clearly rusty with his performance. However, he bounced back strongly and looked lethal in Adelaide. Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist was pleased with Cummins’ aggressive bowling and hailed him for his performance.

Adam Gilchrist spoke about Pat Cummins’ aggressive celebrations after every wicket and claimed that his bowling performance was terrific to watch. He also reckoned that the criticism in Perth stung Australia and forced them to return to their best.

Adam Gilchrist hails Pat Cummins’ performance in Adelaide

After Pat Cummins’ excellence in Adelaide, Adam Gilchrist praised his bowling performance. He also spoke about his aggressive celebrations and claimed that he was itching to prove a point after the Perth debacle.

“(Pat) Cummins was outstanding, he looked like if there needed a bit of a grease and oil change after Perth and a tune-up, he was purring by the end of it, so that was terrific to watch. You could see just through his celebrations that… every wicket that he took he was more aggressive in his celebration,” Gilchrist was quoted as saying by Fox Cricket.

Pat Cummins is usually a calm player who has been quite consistent with his performances in his career so far. However, he celebrated every wicket with intent and aggression in Adelaide and it was evident with his celebrations.

Pat Cummins comes back with a bang

Pat Cummins had a poor Test match in Perth where he returned with figures of 2-67 and 1-86 across the two innings. He looked far from his best and played one of the worst matches of his Test career.

However, he came back hard in Adelaide and produced a captain’s performance by leading from the front. Cummins picked up a magnificent five-wicket haul in the second innings of the match as he finished with 5-57. His short ball barrage was too much to handle for India as they were bundled out for a paltry score.

Cummins’ role will be important in the remaining Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His return to form could be a genuine concern for India as he is already one of the best bowlers in the world in Test cricket and becomes even more lethal on Australian soil.

Australia level the series in style

Meanwhile, the series has been levelled 1-1 after Australia’s thumping win in Adelaide. India had earlier won the first Test by 295 runs. With three more Tests to go, it promises to be a thrilling series.

The third Test of the series will be played at Gabba, Brisbane from December 14. Also, the last two Tests of the series will be played in Melbourne and Sydney respectively.
