Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist and former England captain Michael Vaughan have rated the performances of Indian cricket team superstars Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli in the recent blockbuster Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.
Virat Kohli had a forgettable Australia tour, amassing only 190 runs in nine innings at an average of 23.75 and getting out caught behind while playing outside the off-stump in all his eight dismissals, as India lost the five-match Test series 1-3 to the hosts earlier this month.

However, Jasprit Bumrah had a remarkable outing, finishing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with 32 wickets in nine innings as he couldn’t bowl in the final innings of the Sydney Test due to back spasm. He was named Player of the Series for his incredible bowling performance in Australia.
Days after Australia clinched the BGT with a 3-1 margin against India after a decade, Adam Gilchrist has given a glowing review of Virat Kohli’s performance in the Test series. The legendary cricketer praised Kohli for his all-round impact on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series against Australia.
Adam Gilchrist called Kohli a “complete package” for his unmatched charisma and ability to captivate audiences. The Australian legend rated the former India captain at 7.5 out of 10 for his ability to bring excitement and “eyeballs” to the game, referring to his on-field drama with the Aussies.
He’s an all-rounder package: Adam Gilchrist on Virat Kohli
Adam Gilchrist said on the YouTube channel ‘Club Prairie Fire’: “We did say that; he’s an all-rounder package; he brings eyeballs to the game. So, yeah, 7.5/10.”
Furthermore, Gilchrist hailed the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling prowess. He claimed that Bumrah would have shattered batting legends like Sir Don Bradman at his peak. The former Australian wicketkeeper boldly claimed that Bumrah would have knocked Bradman out in just a few balls.
Gilchrist noted, “I’m not rating him; no number is befitting what he is in world sport. I’m beyond [trinity], seriously. He would have ripped on Bradman’s peak in the matter of balls. It would have been much further south of 99 [average] that he sits at [if they faced each other]. I would give Donald 35 out of Bumrah. You cannot have a reward that’s high enough for him.”
Michael Vaughan hails Jasprit Bumrah as the “GOAT,” and calls Virat Kohli an entertainment package
Meanwhile, in the same discussion, former England captain Michael Vaughan has pointed out that Virat Kohli entertained fans with his passion and on-field antics. Vaughan gave Kohli a solid 7/10 rating for entertaining the fans with his energy and interactions with the crowd and Aussie players.
Michael Vaughan said on the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast: “Virat brought the barge, sandpaper, and geed up the crowd. He’s probably run at Konstas faster than I’ve seen anybody run at a player in the history of the game. I’m going to give him a 7/10 for the entertainment that Virat Kohli brings.”
In the end, the Englishman hailed Jasprit Bumrah as the “GOAT” and rated him a perfect 10/10. Vaughan signed off by saying, “10/10. Well, he is as good as Gilly called him. The greatest sportsman of all time.”
