The ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023-25 Points Table) has been changed twice in a gap of a couple of hours on Sunday, December 8. Following the victory, the Pat Cummins-led team reclaimed the top spot and moved closer to qualifying for the WTC 2025 final, set to be played at Lord’s next year.
The visitors started the day’s play at 128/5 with Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy at the crease. However, India lost the wicket of Pant in the first over of the day. They lost regular wickets and were bowled out for 175 runs in their second innings. Nitish Reddy was the top scorer for India with 42 off 47 balls.
Australia was asked to chase down a 19-run target in the final innings of the match. Usman Khawaja (9) and Nathan McSweeney (10) completed the run chase. The home team secured a comfortable 10-wicket victory and leveled the ongoing series 1-1. Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his century.

Following the victory against India, Australia’s points percentage (PCT) in the World Test Championship table increased from 57.69% to 60.71%. Meanwhile, India’s PCT decreased to 57.29% from 61.11%. The Pat Cummins-led team moved to the top place in the table, while India dropped to the third spot.

(In the ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025, teams will get 12 points for a win, 4 for a draw, and 6 for a tie. For slow over-rates teams will lose one championship point for each over-short. Teams will be ranked on the percentage of points won.)
Australia To Face India In Third Test At The Gabba
South Africa is currently hosting the second Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka. It is the second-last Test series for both teams in the ongoing WTC cycle. It is worth mentioning that South Africa secured victory in the first game. The hosts can reach the top spot with a win in this game.
Australia will take on India in the third Test match at The Gabba in Brisbane, starting on Saturday, December 14. The Indian team breached Australia’s Gabba fortress when they last played at this venue.
