Gill sprinted backward at full speed, keeping his eyes locked on the descending ball. Despite the difficulty of looking over his shoulder while running, he judged the trajectory perfectly. His footwork was precise, allowing him to cover significant ground without losing control. As the ball dipped, he extended his hands and completed the catch just before it could evade him. The athleticism and commitment showcased by Gill highlighted his sharp fielding instincts. His effort turned what seemed like a half-chance into a moment of brilliance. India’s commanding victory over England in the 2nd ODI
India registered a commanding four-wicket victory over England in the second ODI at Cuttack, successfully chasing down a target of 305 in just 44.3 overs. Rohit Sharma led from the front with a magnificent 119 off 90 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Gill provided a strong start with a fluent 60, while Axar Patel’s composed 41 not out guided India to victory. Earlier on, England, after being put in to bat, posted a competitive total of 304, thanks to solid contributions from Joe Root (69), Ben Duckett (65) and Liam Livingstone (41). However, Ravindra Jadeja’s three-wicket haul (3/35) and disciplined bowling from Varun Chakravarthy (1/54) kept them in check.
