The stage is all set for an exciting end to the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. The much-awaited match is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (March 9).
Two of the best teams of the competition – India and New Zealand – will fight it out against each other for the Champions Trophy glory.
India are eyeing their third Champions Trophy title and first since 2013. A win in the upcoming game will also make India the first-ever team to win the trophy thrice.
India and New Zealand qualify for CT final
The Men in Blue had qualified for the final in the last edition of the CT 2025 as well. However, they could not defend their title as they suffered a heavy defeat against Pakistan.
Team India will be desperate to make amends by winning the upcoming game and create history.

New Zealand, on the other hand, is eyeing their second CT 2025 title. The Black Caps have not won the tournament since clinching the trophy in 2000. It is still their first and last ICC trophy in the limited-overs format and they too will be desperate to win the upcoming final and end their long wait.
Umpires announced for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final:
With the stage all set for a cracking contest between India and New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final, the ICC has announced the name of the umpires for the game.
Australia’s Paul Reiffel and England’s Richard Illingworth will be the on-field umpires for the final. On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s Ranjan Madugalle will be the match referee for the title-decider.
Reiffel previously officiated during the semifinal clash between New Zealand and South Africa in Lahore earlier this week. Illingworth was in action when India locked horns against Australia in the other semifinal in Dubai.
Illingworth was also one of the umpires in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. India had lost that game against Australia and would be hoping that the result of the upcoming game turns out to be different.

Meanwhile, the upcoming game will be the second meeting between India and New Zealand in CT 2025.
Earlier in the tournament, they had locked horns against each other in the group stage. India had won that game by 44 runs and are the favourites to win the upcoming game as well.
