After being unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction last month, Gujarat batter Urvil Patel has been showing all the franchises that they missed out on the future star with his stunning performances in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25.

Five days after smashing a 28-ball hundred, Urvil left one and all in awe of him with another stunning century in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25. Patel had played an unbeaten knock of 113 runs off 35 balls to help Gujarat beat Tripura by eight wickets on November 27.

And now on Tuesday, December 3, Urvil Patel has yet again turned heads with his stunning batting during the 92nd game of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 between Uttarakhand and Gujarat at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore.

Well, Patel’s batting prowess was on full display in the SMAT match on Tuesday, as the Gujarat wicketkeeper batter smacked a 36-ball hundred with the help of six boundaries and ten maximums against Uttarakhand at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore.

His unbeaten knock of 115 runs off 41 balls helped Gujarat to chase down the 183-run target inside 14 overs with eight wickets in hand against Uttarakhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 game in Indore.

He stitched a 72-run partnership with his opening partner Aarya Desai (23) and then added an unbeaten 97 runs off 44 balls with Axar Patel (28) for Gujarat against Uttarakhand.

For his remarkable innings, Urvil was named Player of the Match after Gujarat won the SMAT match by eight wickets against Uttarakhand at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore on Tuesday.

Gujarat strengthened its position in the SMAT

With this win, Gujarat strengthened their position in the Group B table with 16 points from 5 games. They are currently standing behind the table topper, Saurashtra, which has also 16 points from 5 games, but they have a better net run rate (+1.869), while Gujarat’s NRR is +1.353.

Both Gujarat and Saurashtra have so far lost only one game of their five outings in the T20 competition.

Meanwhile, Urvil is on a roll in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25. Despite his heroics, the Gujarat star was overlooked at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 26-year-old had set a base price of INR 30 lakh for the IPL 2025 auction but went unsold last month.

The Gujarat Titans (GT) had acquired him for the 2023 season at a base price of INR 20 lakh, but he did not get the chance to make his IPL debut. However, not getting the IPL deal didn’t deter Patel’s confidence, as the right-hander continued his stellar form in the SMAT 2024-25.

Urvil Patel smashed back-to-back centuries in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25. He also broke his record for the highest individual score by a Gujarat batter in T20 cricket by scoring 115* runs off 41 balls against Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

After becoming the fastest Indian batter to score a T20 hundred off 28 balls against Tripura, Patel also achieved another milestone with his unbeaten century against Uttarakhand, becoming the fourth-fastest batter to hit a ton in Indian cricket.
