England’s vice-captain Harry Brook surprisingly decided to pull out of the entire season of IPL 2025. The decision to pull out just days before the IPL surprised many. Former England captain Nasser Hussain spoke on this issue and speculated the reason behind it.

Hussain feels that Harry Brook has already a lot on his plate as he is one of the few all-format cricketers for England. With Jos Buttler having given up the captaincy, Brook is also seen as the contender for the role of England’s white-ball captaincy.

In the last few years, Brook has grown in stature and has transformed himself into the mainstay in the batting department for all the formats. However, his sudden pull-out from the IPL has come as a sudden shock to his fans.

Nasser Hussain reveals why Harry Brook pulled out

While speaking to Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain speculated the reason behind Harry Brook pulling out of IPL 2025. He feels that Brook already has a lot on his plate and he might have had a conversation with England’s managing director Rob Key about England’s captaincy.

“I think it could be a sign (To pull out of IPL 2025). Rob Key may have spoken to him and said, ‘You’ve a lot on your plate. We may want you to captain’. Who knows? He has got a lot on his plate coming up with a massive nine months within India, Test series at home and then the Ashes away,” Hussain said.

“He missed out on the last one because of personal family reasons. He may just think that right, I’m going to concentrate on Test match cricket,” the former England skipper said.

England will play a five-match Test series against India at home from June 2025. They will then travel to Australia for an away Ashes series. Brook is likely to play a key role in both the series.

Nasser Hussain expects Harry Brook to return to form

Nasser Hussain further claimed that Rob Key and Brook might have had a conversation already about the latter’s workload. He expects Brook to get back into the rhythm soon since he has taken a rest from the IPL.

“I would be surprised if Rob Key hasn’t had a conversation with him yet and asked what do you think about your workload in the year ahead and that may have been the conversation. Only Rob Key and Harry Brook will know,” Hussain reckoned.

“But he has taken a rest and hopefully, he will get back into the rhythm, find some form and he would be up and firing for two absolutely vital Test series ahead,” the former England batter added.

Harry Brook pulls out of IPL 2025

Harry Brook pulled out of the IPL for the second successive season. He was due to play for Delhi Capitals this season after he was bagged for INR 6.25 crore by the franchise. Brook’s decision was conveyed by the ECB to the BCCI last week, who then informed Delhi Capitals.

There is a high possibility that Brook might be banned for two years from participating in the IPL according to the new IPL rules. The IPL is yet to make it official but Brook made it clear on social media that he needs some time to refresh himself from a hectic schedule.
