The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Player of the Month for December 2024. India National Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been given the award for his heroics with the ball during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia National Cricket Team.
Jasprit Bumrah defeated Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson to win the ICC Player of the Month award. The India National Cricket Team pacer played three games in December and was at his exceptional best with the ball during the month as he picked 22 wickets at an astonishing average of 14.22.

Bumrah single-handedly carried the Indian bowling lineup in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and was the main performer with the ball from both sides. He started the Month of December on a high as he picked a four-wicket haul in the pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
After that, Bumrah brought his best in the third game of the series at the Gabba in Brisbane. The premier pacer picked six wickets in the first innings and then followed it up with the three wickets in the second innings, to complete a nine-wicket match haul.

Jasprit Bumrah continued his golden touch with the ball in the fourth game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, which was the Boxing-day Test. The fast bowler picked four wickets in the first innings and then followed it up with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
Overall, in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Jasprit Bumrah picked 32 wickets and was the lone warrior for the India National Cricket Team. He also was awarded the Player of the Series award and also became the highest rank bowler in terms of the ICC ratings. He overtook Ravichandran Ashwin’s tally of 904 rating points to achieve the feat.
Jasprit Bumrah also achieved a massive milestone during the series by taking his 200th Test wicket. He became the fourth-fastest player to reach this landmark in terms of balls bowled. The India National Cricket Team pacer also became the first bowler in history to claim 200 Test wickets at an average below 20.
Annabel Sutherland awarded the ICC Women’s Player of the Month
On the other hand, Australia’s Annabel Sutherland was awarded the ICC Women’s Player of the Month. She was one of the top performers in December as he was exceptional with the bat and ball across five ODIs – three against India and two against New Zealand.
Annabel Sutherland amassed 269 runs in December to go with two centuries, one against 110 against India in Perth and an unbeaten 105 against New Zealand in Wellington. The batter had an average of 67.25 and a strike rate of 113.98 in December. She also claimed 9 wickets at an exceptional economy rate of 3.85 and an average of 16.22.
