Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness concerns raised as India prepare for Brisbane Test

Former England Women’s National Cricket Team player Isa Guha has opined that the biggest concern for India National Cricket Team heading into the third Test against Australia National Cricket Team is the fitness of the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

Isa Guha said that the absence of the pacer Jasprit Bumrah would be a massive blow to the India National Cricket Team, and it would change the dynamics of the team.

Jasprit Bumrah, who has picked 185 Test wickets in 42 matches, has been the best performer for India National Cricket Team so far in the series.

In the Test series opener in Perth, he was the skipper of the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, and he led from the front. He bagged 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings to help India clinch a 295-run win.

In the second Test also, Bumrah was brilliant as he bagged 4 wickets in the first innings. The India vice-captain is currently the highest wicket-taker in the series with 12 scalps in his bag.

Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury scare in the Adelaide Test

Bumrah, meanwhile, faced a massive injury scare in the pink-ball Test, which shook the Indian camp. He Bumrah was bowling the 81st over of the innings, and after the third ball, he looked in some sort of trouble. Travis Head dispatched a 132.6kmph delivery of Bumrah to the boundary for four, and after that, the pacer went down.

The physio instantly came down in the middle to check on the pacer as Bumrah was seen holding his adductor muscle. After receiving the treatment from the physio, the speedster was back on his feet and completed the over without facing any issues.

It was revealed by the India bowling coach Morne Morkel that Bumrah was totally fine and he just suffered cramps. However, his bowling speeds in the single over he bowled in the last innings was a huge concern.

The only concern they might have is around Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness – Isa Guha

Speaking on Fox Sports on Wednesday, December 11, Isa Guha said that the 10-wicket defeat in Adelaide isn’t something that India should look too much into.

She said that the biggest concern for India at the moment is about Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness and how his body is feeling before the third game.

“For India, I don’t think they’re going to be too concerned about what happened in Adelaide … they’ll enjoy going to the Gabba and playing in those conditions,” Guha said.

“The only concern they might have, is around Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness and what that does to the bowling attack … that’s where the main challenge lies for India,” she further added.
