Australia National Cricket Team batter Marnus Labuschagne has come up with a reply to David Warner after the commentator criticized the batter. He, while mocking the former opener of the team, said that everyone loves to write articles in the newspaper.
Marnus Labuschagne has had a tough start to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The batter looked under pressure in the two games as was tested a lot by the India National Cricket Team pacers in particular Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Marnus Labuschagne slams a fighting half-century in Adelaide after two failures in the Perth Test against India
Marnus Labuschagne failed in both the innings in Perth as he looked in shell. Although he stayed for a while in the middle, he failed to score runs. He was under a lot of pump after that, as before that, he endured a lean patch in the longest format of the game.
But in the Adelaide Test, Marnus Labuschagne lifted the monkey off his back. The batter slammed a glorious half-century in the pink-ball Test as he ended with an innings of 64 runs. This helped Australia National Cricket secure a win, make a comeback in the series, and level the series.
I don’t think that was anywhere near what we know he’s capable of – David Warne on Marnus Labuschagne
But despite hitting a century, Marnus Labuschagne was criticized by David Warner. He said that the batter was nowhere near his best, and he got runs because it was poor bowling from the India National Cricket Team bowlers. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he explained:
“I’m still not convinced with Marnus. I don’t think that was anywhere near what we know he’s capable of. He might have got a couple out of the middle, got a couple of freebies, and batted well that night to get through, but they bowled poorly.
“So from that perspective, he had the best conditions to come out and bat in. But he got out the same way he always does get out when he gets over 50, hits it straight to gully.”
Everyone’s here to write newspapers, write articles – Marnus Labuschagne on David Warner
Marnus Labuschagne, while replying to David Warner, urged the commentator to check how many times he has been caught at gully. He also added that everyone is entitled to their opinions and explained:
“I’d like to see him check how many times I’ve been caught at gully because apparently I get out there every week,” Labuschagne told News Corp (via The Roar).
“I’ve looked back and I think I can only remember getting caught at gully twice. So I might have to have a look at Bull’s (Warner’s) comment there. But like I said, everyone’s here to write newspapers, write articles.”
The five-match Test series between India and Australia is levelled at 1-1. The next game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played from 14th December at the Gabba in Brisbane.
