Karnataka achieved a massive feat in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy after the sensational performance by KL Shrijith in the match against Mumbai. The state team registered the second-highest chase in the tournament after their 7-wicket win in the match.

Karnataka scripted history in the match against Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The match between the two teams took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium B ground in Ahmedabad on Saturday (21st December), which saw the festival of runs.

But the best effort from the bat came from KL Shrijith. The Southpaw came up with the rollicking effort with the bat as he made a mockery of the Mumbai bowlers and slammed them all over the park. He hardly put a foot wrong in his innings and took his team to the win.

KL Shrijith played an unbeaten innings of 150 runs off 101 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 150 and also hit 20 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. Thanks to his heroics with the bat, Karnataka chased the target with 7 wickets in started their campaign in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 on high.

Thanks to the heroics of KL Shrijith, Karnataka recorded the 2nd-highest chase (383) in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The record of the highest chase in the history of the tournament belongs to Andhra Pradesh. They chased the massive target of 384 runs against Goa in 2012.

Earlier in the day, with the kind of performance Mumbai came up with, it seemed that they would win the game. Opening batter Ayush Mhatre came up with a solid effort at the top as he ended with an innings of 78 runs off 82 balls, batting with a strike rate of 95.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer was the hero for his team with the bat. The right-hander played a sensational innings of 114 runs off 55 balls. Along with him Hardik Tamore (84) and Shivam Dube (63*) also played vital innings as Mumbai posted a gigantic total of 382 runs on the board.
