Babar was dropped following his poor returns with the bat in Test cricket. The right-hander was having a torrid time and failed to register big scores, which spoke a lot about his struggles with the bat.

Babar Azam faced a lot of criticism for his poor form in the Tests, and there were a lot of calls related to his omission. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board didn’t admit they dropped the batter, the statement from them was a hint that the batter had been dropped.

Babar Azam was replaced by Kamran Ghulam in the team and it was a blessing in disguise for the team. The young batter hit a glorious century and helped the Pakistan National Cricket Team win the series against the England National Cricket Team, their first series win at home in 3 years.

I told him not to worry about it – Mohammad Amir on Babar Azam

Mohammad Amir, who often has been criticized for his poor relationship with Babar, said that he called the batter after he was dropped from the England series. He opened up about the conversations with the batter and said:

“When he was dropped, I called him. I told him that this happens to every player. I told him not to worry about it. I told him that from here, it would only get better for him. The worst thing for a cricketer is getting dropped from the team. It can’t be worse than this. It will be better for you. I wished him on his birthday,” Mohammad Amir said during a show.

I told him that this is not the only time it has happened – Mohammad Amir to Babar Azam

Mohammad Amir added that he told Babar that this won’t be the first time he is dropped but will face this more in his career. He stressed that he urged the batter to take this as a challenge and come out even stronger. He added:

“I told him that this is not the only time it has happened and it will happen more in the future (on being dropped). This is not a one-time thing. A cricketer’s life is like that. But from here, a person comes strong. He says that I will take this as a challenge and I have to come back. He doubles his hard work. This happened when he was dropped from England.”

Babar has now been named in the Pakistan squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa National Cricket Team. The series will be a great opportunity for him to reclaim his place in the team again and reply to all critics in style. The series gets underway from 26th December.
