Punjab Kings, PBKS Playing 11

After completely overhauling their squad, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be hoping that their fortunes change in IPL 2025. The Punjab-based outfit had the biggest purse for the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega auction and have assembled a pretty strong squad for the next season.

Their biggest buy is Shreyas Iyer who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the title last season. Earlier in 2020, Iyer had also led Delhi Capitals to the IPL final. PBKS would be hoping that the Mumbai star justifies his huge price tag and lives up to the expectations.

Apart from Iyer, PBKS have also acquired the services of some other big names such as Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal. They also managed to retain Arshdeep Singh by using the RTM option.

Openers: Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis

The Punjab Kings Playing 11 will have a new opening combination for IPL 2025. While Prabhsimran Singh will continue to open the innings for his side, he is likely to have a new opening partner in Josh Inglis. Prabhsimran Singh was one of PBKS’ two retained players and he will be looking to justify the franchise’s call.

In the previous season, he scored 334 runs in 14 games for the team. Inglis, on the other hand, is gearing up to make his IPL debut next season. The right-handed batsman has already shown his abilities in international cricket.

He has two T20I centuries including one against India and recently led Australia to a 3-0 win over Pakistan. Inglis will be keen to hit the ground running in his debut IPL season.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Nehal Wadhera, Shreyas Iyer, Shashank Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell

Nehal Wadhera is likely to feature regularly in the PBKS playing 11 next season. The highly-rated batsman played for Mumbai Indians in the last two IPL seasons. He impressed one and all with his batting and will be looking to do well for PBKS as well. Last season, Wadhera played six games and scored 109 runs.

Iyer will be batting at no.4 for Punjab Kings. The right-handed batsman is one of the best white-ball players in the country and the onus will be on him to lead the charge with the bat for the team. Last season, Iyer scored 351 runs in 14 innings for Kolkata Knight Riders while also leading the team.

Shashank Singh will be another name in PBKS’ middle order. The right-handed batsman had a stunning campaign for PBKS last season and was one of the two retained players. In 14 games, he had scored 354 runs at a strike rate of more than 164.

Australian duo Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell are likely to be the designated all-rounders in the Punjab Kings Playing 11. Stoinis played for Lucknow last year while Maxwell played for Bengaluru. Stoinis had scored 388 runs with the help of a century and two fifties last season in addition to taking 4 wickets.

On the other hand, Maxwell scored only 52 runs in 10 games and will be desperate to bounce back. With the ball, the Australia star had picked up six wickets.

Bowlers: Marco Jansen, Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

Punjab Kings are likely to have two specialist pacers and as many spinners in their lineup. Arshdeep Singh will be leading the pace attack and is likely to have Marco Jansen as his bowling partner. Stoinis is another fast-bowling option for the side.

On the other hand, Yuzvendra Chahal will be spearheading the spin department with Harpreet Brar as his partner. Punjab Kings will also have the option of using Maxwell’s spin bowling.
