The Indian cricket team embarked on an Australia tour on the back of a 0-3 drubbing at the hands of New Zealand in the home Test series. Given the humiliation, many have been downplaying India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, with many key players out of form, including Virat Kohli.
However, as expected, the Indian cricket team proved all the predictions wrong by starting the high-voltage Test series with a grand victory over the Aussies at the Optus Stadium in Perth, where the tourists handed the hosts an embarrassing defeat of 295 runs on Day 4 on November 25.
Jasprit Bumrah leads Indian Cricket Team to dominant 295-run win over Australia in Perth Test
Under the brilliant captaincy of ace seamer Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian team roared high and showed the world why they were dominating the Kangaroos in their backyard.
From Virat Kohli to Yashasvi Jaiswal and the stand-in skipper Bumrah himself, everyone made crucial contributions to the team’s historic 295-run win in the five-match Test series opener in Perth.

KL Rahul, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harshit Rana’s contribution to India’s dominant start of their quest to record a historic hat-trick of Test series wins Down Under can’t be ignored at the Optus Stadium.
Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his remarkable bowling show, taking 8 wickets across two innings in the Perth Test.
After India’s dominant win over Australia in the first Test, the cricket fraternity went jubilant on social media, trolling the Australian cricket team for slowly becoming the bunny of the Indian cricket team, as it was a special win that the team achieved without Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin.
Many have been hailing Bumrah’s exceptional captaincy and bowling performance in the Perth Test. Notably, it was India’s second-biggest win by runs away in Test cricket. India’s biggest victory margin outside Asia was 318-run win over the West Indies at North Sound back in 2019.

Australia has a long tradition of going after the head of the snake i.e. the captain of the opposition. This time, the head of the snake went after them, and they didn’t know where to hide. #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/7VGJQLIqjP

Excellent victory this from India and credit definitely goes to Bumrah. His spell on day 1 brought India back to the game. If Australia batted on day 2 things would have been different. Bumrah well bowled and well led 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #AUSvIND
