ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The decision related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to reach its conclusion. But amid all the fuss, the global cricket body, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, is all set to face financial repercussions. This is because they have missed the contractual deadline to release the tournament’s fixtures and schedule.

As per the contract, the ICC had to announce the tournament’s fixtures and schedule 90 days ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

However, with the deadline now surpassed, it has badly affected the stakeholders, chiefly Disney Star or merged Jio Star, the ICC’s media partners, and the biggest bankrollers of global cricket.

Delay in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule hasn’t allowed broadcasters to fully exploit the tournament commercially

The delay in the schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy hasn’t allowed broadcasters to fully exploit the tournament commercially.

Although the governing body won’t be making any official statement on the loss, reports claimed that time is running out for its business partners, stakeholders as well as hosts. They are likely to face the commercial impact of this delay.

The reports claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken serious exception to the prolonged delay in resolving the crisis.

It is learned that one of the senior PCB officials directly contacted ICC CEO Geoff Allardice and expressed his disappointment over the developments unfolding related to the ICC Champions Trophy.

The ICC is all set to hold a meeting on November 29th to make the final decision

The International Cricket Council is all set to hold a meeting on November 29th, and the final decision related to the ICC Champions Trophy will come that day. As per the reports, the global cricket body is most likely to adopt to hybrid model with India playing all their matches outside Pakistan.

The reports claimed that although it will be the biggest challenge for the ICC to convince a defiant Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play the tournament in a hybrid model, the model is likely to be backed during the meetings. But Pakistan being strong on their stance and India not ready to travel, it can impact the tournament.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 might be relocated and this might see Pakistan boycotting the event altogether

There are chances that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 might be relocated and this might see Pakistan boycotting the event altogether. This still might work, but without India, the tournament would be worthless, especially with the business that India brings into the sport.

Earlier, it was reported that three alternatives have emerged from the current situation unfolding ICC Champions Trophy 2025. These are:

Scenario 1: ICC decides on the hybrid model and Pakistan reluctantly accepts it.

Scenario 2: Pakistan rejects and boycotts it and the competition is relocated to another country, UAE or South Africa.

Scenario 3: The tournament is cancelled or indefinitely postponed (least likely, as it is not in any party’s interest).
