The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been a major cricketing topic for one month. This is because both the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board have been involved related to the venue as well as the schedule of the tournament.

There has been a massive tussle between the BCCI and the PCB over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The BCCI has categorically mentioned that they won’t be sending the India National Cricket Team to Pakistan. This is because the Government of India has denied giving clearance to the board to travel to the neighboring nation due to security reasons.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has been strong in its stance. They have mentioned again and again that they will be staging the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in their backyard.

PCB also have conveyed the same to the ICC as well and are completely against moving the tournament out and even hosting it in a Hybrid model.

There have been too many statements that have come from both parties, and it has seen a massive tussle between the BCCI and the PCB over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ICC, too, has intervened and acted as a mediator, but so far, nothing has been finalized.

ICC will be taking on the virtual meeting on 29th November. As per the reports, it is learned that the final decision related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will come after that only. Reports have claimed that a hybrid model is likely to be adopted because of the unrest in Pakistan.

Entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 might move out of Pakistan

Due to unrest in Pakistan, the reports claimed that the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 might move out of Pakistan. This is because Sri Lanka A left the tour midway due to the same. The pressure might force PCB to accept the hybrid model.

But PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday made a strong statement, saying that they are still on their stance and they want the entire tournament to take place in Pakistan. He also stressed that they will make the decision which will be best for Pakistan cricket.

I’m sure once he moves from the BCCI to the ICC, he will think about the ICC’s benefit – Mohsin Naqvi on Jay Shah

Not only this but Mohsin Naqvi also expressed his confidence in Jay Shah to take the decision, keeping in mind the interest of ICC once he takes over the charge. Speaking to reporters in Lahore, he explained:

“(Jay Shah) takes charge in December, and I’m sure once he moves from the BCCI to the ICC, he will think about the ICC’s benefit, and that’s what he should do. Whenever anyone assumes such a role, he should only consider the interests of that organization.”

Jay Shah was recently appointed as the Chairman of the ICC. He will be taking over the charge of the global body in December, and taking the decision on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be the first massive challenge for him in post.
