Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made its decision related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. As per the reports in PTI and RevSportz, it is learned that the Mohsin Naqvi-led committee has accepted the Hybrid model for the eight-team tournament.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not accepted the Hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy only for the sake of it as they demanded compensation from the International Cricket Council (ICC). As per the reports, it is learned that they have asked for a greater share of the revenue from the global cricket body.

Pakistan Cricket Board is demanding a greater share of revenue from its current 5.75%, which is annually around USD 35 million

The reports added that PCB is demanding a greater share of revenue from its current 5.75%, which is annually around USD 35 million. They have asked for an increase in the revenue from ICC and the Hybrid model for the ICC events happening in India till 2031.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been in the news for the last few months, and the matter is finally about to conclude. After weeks of tussling between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the schedule is expected to be announced soon.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t clearance from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

It all started after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t clearance from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The same was conveyed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as well by the ICC and then all the fuss started.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t agree with the BCCI’s decision and made a strong statement, saying that they want to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home. There were suggestions given to PCB for the same, but they stood tall on their stance and didn’t agree with the hybrid model.

All the participating nations agreed to the hybrid model except for Pakistan

During the recent ICC meeting, the ICC Board gave PCB a day to mull over the Hybrid Formula. The pressure to accept the model got more severe on Pakistan after all the participating nations agreed to the hybrid model, according to which India games will be played in UAE.

ICC board members reportedly were sympathetic towards Pakistan’s situation, but Naqvi was, nonetheless, advised to accept the ‘Hybrid’ model as the only “plausible solution” for the current imbroglio. The formal statement related to the tournament is likely to come out soon.

With the Pakistan Cricket Board accepting the hybrid model and asking for a greater share, it remains to be seen if the ICC will accept their demand or not. The official statement related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to be announced soon.
