South Africa National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team were involved in an enthralling Test match, which was the first of the two-match series. The match between the two teams took place at the Kingsmead in Durban.
South Africa National Cricket Team produced a dominating effort with the bat and ball in the series and ensured that they started the series on high. The Proteas Team was asked to bat first and it wasn’t the kind of first innings they would’ve wanted as they ended up scoring just 191 runs.

Skipper Temba Bavuma was the star batter for his team and led from the front. The batter played a glorious innings of 70 runs off 171 balls and took his team to the competitive total. For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumar picked three wickets each.
Sri Lanka, in response, had a horrible outing with the bat as they were bundled out for just 42 runs. Premier pacer Marco Jansen picked seven wickets and helped his team take a mammoth first-innings lead and put the opposition under massive pressure.

In the second innings, South Africa National Cricket Team produced a brilliant effort with the bat. Riding on the centuries by Tristan Stubbs (122) and skipper Temba Bavuma (113), they posted a total of 366 runs before declaring the innings and setting the mammoth target of over 500 runs.
Sri Lanka, in their second innings, came up with a decent effort, but they couldn’t go past the finishing line. Dinesh Chandimal (83), skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (59), and Kusal Mendis (48) tried their best but the target was too much as they got all out for 282 runs to lose the game by the margin of 233 runs.
ICC World Test Championship points table
With the win, the South Africa National Cricket Team took a step forward in the ICC World Test Championship points table. They claimed the second spot with a PCT of 59.26. India is at the top with a PCT of 61.11. Sri Lanka is at No.5 with a PCT of 50.
