Not Long Ago That He Actually Started – Rahul Dravid
Speaking on Star Sports, Rahul Dravid highlighted how Yashasvi Jaiswal has improved his performance since making his debut in the West Indies just a year and a half ago.
“Jaiswal has been going from strength to strength. It’s hard to imagine that a year and a half ago he made his debut in the West Indies. It’s not long ago that he actually started,” said Dravid on Star Sports.
Rahul Dravid was India’s head coach when Jaiswal made his debut in the first Test against the West Indies in Dominica, where he scored 171 runs off 387 balls. Jaiswal went on to cement his place in India’s Test team. He is now the leading run-scorer for India in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle.
He Is Only Going To Keep Getting Better And Better – Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid said that it’s a rare feat to score a century in a first Test match on Australian soil, adding that few players have managed to do so. Dravid said that Jaiswal’s hunger, desire, and drive for improvement will help him have a bright future.
“To go to Australia, to play in Perth, and in your first Test match, get a hundred on Australian soil, I don’t think many people have been able to do that. I’m sure someone like him, with his hunger, his desire, his drive, he is only going to keep getting better and better,” said Dravid.
