Washington Sundar has registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction at the base price of INR 2 crore. The India allrounder was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the last season of the IPL.
The 25-year-old’s IPL journey began with the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. While he was not bought by any team in the auction, the Pune-based franchise signed him up as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin.
Washington went on to justify the decision by delivering a brilliant performance with the ball. In 11 games in IPL 2017, he picked up 8 wickets while conceding at an economy rate of just 6.16. What made his performance even more remarkable was that he bowled regularly in the powerplay.
From 2018 to 2021, Sundar was a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team before being signed up by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2022 mega auction. In IPL 2024, he struggled to play regularly due to the Impact Player rule. He played only 2 games in the last season.
