The verbal exchange between Alzarri and Taskin took place following an intense spell of fast bowling by the West Indies pacer near the end of the day’s play, shortly before bad light stopped the proceedings. As he completed his follow-through, Alzarri playfully told Taskin to “go to the other end,” to which Taskin retorted, “Go away.” This competitive banter captured the attention of spectators and highlighted the camaraderie that exists among players, even amidst fierce competition.

Bangladesh avoids the follow-on

Resuming at 40 for 2 in response to the West Indies’ imposing 450 for 9 declared, Bangladesh reached 269 for 9 by stumps, trailing by 181 runs. Despite early setbacks, the visitors managed to surpass the follow-on mark through determined batting efforts.

Kemar Roach struck early, dismissing Shahadat Hossain for 18. However, Mominul Haque (50) and Litton Das (40) added 62 for the fourth wicket to stabilize the innings. Mominul reached his half-century off 115 balls but fell leg-before to Jayden Seales on the very next delivery. Das was bowled by Shamar Joseph as Bangladesh faltered to 166 for 5.

Jaker Ali (53) and Taijul Islam (25) provided much-needed resistance, putting on 68 for the seventh wicket. Jaker brought up his second half-century before being dismissed by Justin Greaves.

Alzarri, with figures of 3 for 69, was the pick of the West Indies bowlers. Taskin and Hasan Mahmud saw Bangladesh past the follow-on mark, but the visitors face an uphill battle to save the match.
