Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise owners have submitted the list of unsold players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the Pakistan Cricket Board to pick them in the drafts for the next edition of the league.
The next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is because during the window of the Pakistan-based League, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played, and hence, the tournament has been pushed to the March-April window.
Indian Premier League 2025 and the Pakistan Super League 2025 are all set to clash
During the same time, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be played, and it will no doubt leave a massive impact on PSL. This is because of the brand value that the IPL possesses and also the viewers that the league attracts. Also, some big players have chosen the Indian League over the Pakistan-based league.
However, some of the big names who went in unsold are likely to play in the PSL. These include David Warner, Kane Williamson, Adil Rashid, Alex Carey, Keshav Maharaj, Shai Hope, Daryl Mitchell, Jonny Bairstow and Akeal Hossain.
The team owners want the PCB to talk to the agents and boards of these players and confirm their availability – PCB source of unsold IPL players
The names of these players have been suggested by the PSL team owners and they want them to play in the league. A PTI source close to developments claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be talking to the agents of the players and will confirm their availability for the next edition of the league.
“The team owners want the PCB to talk to the agents and boards of these players and confirm their availability for the PSL 2025.”
The franchise owners are in favour of having the players draft of PSL either in London or Dubai – PCB source
It is also reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to hold the players’ draft for the league in either London or Dubai. The reports claimed that they were inspired by the plan of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the auction in a foreign country.
The source claimed: “The franchise owners are in favour of having the players draft either in London or Dubai as they feel it would improve the brand image of the league.”
The IPL mega auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last month. It was a huge success for the BCCI as a massive amount of money was spent in the league. The auction also threw a surprise as some of the big players went unsold, and some young players were paid more than what they expected.
Pakistan Cricket Board reportedly has looked for a window between April 7 to May 20 to stage the PSL 2025. The tournament will be played during the window in which the Indian Premier League usually takes place, and hence, both tournaments are likely to clash.
