India captain Rohit Sharma has recently broken his silence on the altercation between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head that created the headlines during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Both Siraj and Head were involved in an ugly confrontation with each other during the Adelaide Test. Both the players further blamed each other for this incident. Head claimed that he said “well bowled” to Mohammed Siraj but didn’t receive a well-deserved response from the quick.

In reply, Mohammed Siraj clearly stated that Head was lying in the press conference and didn’t react well after the fall of his wicket. While it is still not confirmed who is at the right end, both the players seemed to be chatting with each other when Siraj walked out to bat on Day 3 of the Test match.

Rohit Sharma breaks silence on Travis Head-Mohammed Siraj altercation

After the match, India’s captain Rohit Sharma was asked about the incident in the press conference. He claimed to be saying that a few words between the players are fine unless they cross the line.

The Indian skipper backed Mohammed Siraj by claiming that the fast bowler knows how to deal with such situations and will do whatever is required to be done in that situation.

“There is thin line between getting aggressive and over-aggressive and it is my job as captain to see that no one crosses the line. But a few words can be exchanged. Siraj knows what he needs to do for the team and he will do everything required,” Rohit was quoted as saying by PTI.

During the press conference, Rohit Sharma also took the responsibility upon himself to oversee such a situation and ensure that no player crosses the line. Both Siraj and Head shared a few verbal volleys between them before Head walked off the field.

When did the whole incident happen?

The incident happened during the second innings of the Test match after Head was bowled by Siraj after a brilliant knock. After shattering his stumps, Siraj gave Head a send-off which started an ugly confrontation between the two players.

Both the players were seen to be intensely chatting with each other when Mohammed Siraj walked out to bat on the third day. Interestingly, Travis Head took the catch to dismiss Mohammed Siraj and it was also the last wicket of the Indian innings.

Travis Head dominates India again

Meanwhile, Travis Head continued his great run against India with yet another stellar knock, this time on his home ground. The left-handed batter came in to bat when Australia were in a bit of a bother with the fall of Steve Smith’s wicket.

But Head came out with a positive intent and smashed the Indian bowlers all around the park. He respected a good spell from Jasprit Bumrah earlier but soon got his eye in. He took an aggressive route against the inexperienced fast bowler Harshit Rana in a well-planned manner.

Head stitched together crucial partnerships with Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey to push Australia ahead in the game. He scored an attacking 140 off just 141 balls and struck 17 fours and 4 sixes during his whirlwind knock.
