India Women’s National Cricket Team batter Smriti Mandhana achieved a massive feat in the history of the ODIs for the national team. The opening batter became only the second player from Team India to go past 4000 runs in the history of 50-over cricket.
Mandhana achieved the feat during the ongoing first game of the ODI series against the Ireland Women’s National Cricket Team. The opening game of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Mandhana, who has been going through the purple patch in the ODIs, played an innings of 41 runs off 29 balls. The opening batter batted with a strike rate of over 141 and also slammed 6 fours and 1 six in her innings, taking her team off to a flyer.
Mandhana has been appointed as the captain of the team in the ongoing series against the Ireland Women’s National Cricket Team. This is because regular skipper Harmanpeeet Kaur has been rested from the series, and Smriti, being vice-captain, was given the role.
Mandhana played a vital role for her team and would be keen to carry on her confidence in the next two games. With the way, India Women’s National Cricket approached the chase; they looked all set to win the game and take a lead of 1-0.
