Indian cricket stars are highly sought-after in various T20 leagues worldwide due to their exceptional skills, massive fan following, and ability to draw global attention. Many star players are not just cricketing icons but also marketing powerhouses who significantly enhance the commercial appeal of tournaments. While BCCI’s restrictions prevent them from participating in overseas leagues, the demand for Indian talent remains strong, with many leagues hoping for a policy shift to feature these players.
Speaking about the same, Allan Donald, the legendary South African fast bowler and ambassador for the SA20 league, expressed his enthusiasm for seeing two Indian cricket superstars grace the South African domestic T20 league. Donald picked the superstars of Indian cricketer as the players he would love to witness in the SA20, highlighting their potential to elevate the competition to unprecedented heights.

Donald’s comments come at a time when the SA20 league is gearing up for its third season, starting on January 9, 2025. The league has already made a mark as one of the most exciting T20 tournaments outside the IPL, thanks to its engaging cricket, high-profile international players, and the involvement of IPL franchise owners in team management. However, the inclusion of top-tier Indian cricketers remains a distant dream due to BCCI’s stringent policies on player participation in overseas leagues.

His remarks reflected an understanding of their global appeal and the unmatched star power they bring, emphasizing the immense value such players add to any cricketing event.
“Oh my gosh, that’s a—where do I start? Where do I start getting a player from there? My goodness me, jeez. If I’m a batter, I’m Virat Kohli all over there. If it’s a bowler, 100 percent Bumrah. 100 percent,” said Donald as quoted by Times of India.
