Australia National Cricket Team batter Steve Smith has expressed his desire to play franchise cricket. He said that he will be playing T20 leagues for a while as he enjoys playing and will continue as long as possible.
Australia National Cricket Team batter Steve Smith, who isn’t touted as a T20 specialist, has been a decent contributor in the shortest format of the game. Of late, there have been a lot of talks about his retirement as well and the batter is in his 15th year of international cricket.
Steve Smith has developed himself into one of the best Test batters but also has been a decent player in the white-ball cricket as well. The premier batter is all set to lead the Australia National Cricket Team in the two-match Test series, as Pat Cummins will be missing the series due to the birth of his child.

Steve Smith played a massive role for Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he slammed two glorious tons. And right after that series, he joined the Sydney Sixers camp in the Big Bash League (BBL). He made sure that he set the stage on fire right in his first outing for the team this season.
Steve Smith slammed a sensational century and helped his team post a massive total on the board. The premier batter slammed an unbeaten 64-ball 121 to take his team to a total of 220 runs and subsequently win the match by a decent margin.

Smith talked about his future, saying that he will be playing franchise cricket for a while as he loves to get involved in T20 camps. He also said that as long as his body is fit and his mind is good, he will continue playing and learning. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he said:
“I think I will play plenty of franchise stuff for a while, I enjoy playing in the T20 comps. There are so many around the world now that you can get involved in. I dare say I will play in them for some time, but how long? Who knows.
“As long as the body is good and the mind is still good and I want to keep playing and keep improving, I will play for as long as I can.”

Steve Smith also talked about playing for the Sydney Sixers, saying that he has enjoyed playing for the team. He mentioned that he has been part of the tournament since the start, and he enjoys being here. He added:
“I’ve enjoyed the last couple of years when I get the opportunity to play for the Sixers, I think I’ve got three hundreds in seven innings. It’s been good fun and I love coming back and playing for the Sixers, I’ve been involved since the outset of the tournament and I enjoy playing here.”
