Aaron Hardie Falls Over Fence

Perth Scorchers all-rounder Aaron Hardie was at the receiving end of a hilarious incident during the ongoing match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 against Sydney Thunder. The 33rd game of the tournament between the teams is taking place at the Sydney Showdown Stadium in Sydney on Monday (13th January).

Aaron Hardie, in an attempt to save the boundary, fell over te fence. It happened during the last ball of the 15th over when Cooper Connolly bowled to the Sydney Thunder opening batter Sam Konstas, who was keeping his team in the hunt.

Copper Connolly bowled a delivery to which Sam Konstas opted for a reverse swipe. He got a decent connection to get it over the right fielders on the off-side. Aaron Hardie, who was at the short third, gave the chase, but the ball had enough legs to beat him to the fence.

Aaron Hardie kept running after the ball and couldn’t stop himself. As a result of that, he fell over the fence and seemed to hurt himself as he hung in on the railing for a few seconds before coming back to the field. He then was back to his fielding position as he gave a green signal to his teammate about his pain.

Sydney Thunder post a total of 158 runs, Sam Konstas and Tom Andrews shone with bat

Coming to the match, Sydney Thunder didn’t have a great outing with the bat. Opening batter Sam Konstas kept his team in the game as he slammed a magnificent half-century and kept scoring runs for the team even though the wickets kept falling at the other end. Perth Scorchers bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and left the opposition at 75/5.

Sam Konstas hit his second half-century of the Big Bash League and ended with an innings of 53 runs off 42 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 127 and also slammed 5 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. But after he got out, it seemed the Sydney Thunder would get out early.

However, Tom Andrews came up with a brutal effort with the bat in the end. He played a cameo of unbeaten 37 runs off 13 balls with the help of three boundaries and three sixes. He batted with a strike rate of around 285 and put the opposition bowlers under massive pressure.
