Arshdeep Singh troubled Ruturaj Gaikwad with his bowling in the first over. Ruturaj survived a near miss as an inside edge narrowly avoided the stumps but went for a boundary. On the final ball of the opening over, Arshdeep bowled a brilliant delivery that angled away from Gaikwad.
Gaikwad expected an incoming ball and played inside the line but missed entirely as the ball hit the top of the off stump. This early breakthrough was a key moment for Punjab, as Gaikwad, expected to play a pivotal role for Maharashtra, continued his low-scoring run in the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Domestic shared the video of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s dismissal on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “Delightful bowling 👌👌 Arshdeep Singh bowled an excellent first spell and picked up 2⃣ early wickets 🔥 #VijayHazareTrophy | @IDFCFIRSTBank.”
