In what will be a massive blow for the Melbourne Stars, Hilton Cartwright faced a massive injury in the first game of the Big Bash League. It happened during the second inning of the game when the batter attempted to save the boundary and got injured.

On the third ball of the 13th over, Adam Milne bowled a full delivery to Cooper Connolly as he got forward to drive into the gap. Hilton Cartwright put on a sprint as he went to his left from sweeper cover and put in a dive to try and pull the ball back. He, however, pushed the ball into the cushions and immediately went down.

Cartwright injured his left shoulder as he landed badly on his left shoulder and also did some damage to the neck area. The physios immediately ran out to attend to the batter and also the stretcher was out to take him off the field.

Hilton has been taken to hospital for scans on his neck – Melbourne Stars

After his injury, Melbourne Stars provided an official update about the batter and claimed that he was taken to hospital for scans on his neck. The franchise also added that they will be providing an update about the batter soon.

Statement from the franchise read:” Hilton has been taken to hospital for scans on his neck. We’ll provide everyone with an update when we have more information.”

Hilton Cartwright didn’t have a great outing with the bat as he managed just 18 runs with the bat. He came to bat at 5 and looked scratchy. Cartwright faced 17 balls during his stay at the crease and hit just one four in his innings.

With the kind of blow that he coped, it looks like that has been curtains for him in this edition of the Big Bash League. Melbourne Stars would be hoping that he regains his fitness and gets back to the team by the latter half of the ongoing tournament.
