Himanshu Sangwan after getting Virat Kohli's wicket

Amidst all the excitement and thrill around Virat Kohli’s maiden Ranji Trophy appearance for Delhi against Railways, the horror-show with the bat from the Indian skipper which loomed throughout Border-Gavaskar Trophy continued. However, the celebration and the send-off which Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan gave to the ace Indian batter after getting his wicket is equally grabbing the attention from the cricketing community, further sparking widespread discussions and reactions.

Himanshu Sangwan’s stunner to annihilate Virat Kohli’s off-stump

The much-anticipated moment of Kohli coming on to the crease for Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium came after Yash Dhull’s dismissal. Kohli appeared to be struggling against the relentless onslaught from the Railways pacers. However, a couple of no-balls did allowed some breathing space to the 36-year-old.

But Kohli could not capitalize on the mistakes from the Railways bowling unit and kept struggling against them. Kohli kept on misjudging the incoming deliveries and appeared completely off-sync against the Railways bowlers.

The crucial moment of Kohli’s dismissal came during the 28th over of the game as Kohli misjudged yet another in-swing from Sangwan and swung his bat in the air. The ball nutmegs the bat completely and strikes the off-stump instead to remove it from the ground thereby marking an end to Kohli’s short-lived innings.

Crucially, the former Indian skipper had to face the brunt of a fierce send-off from Sangwan following a humiliating dismissal. The Railways seasoned pacer thumped in the air and let some steam off after Kohli’s dismissal. The wicket came at a crucial juncture for the visitors as Delhi went down to 86 for the loss of 3 wickets on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy clash between the two sides.

Delhi struggling to catch hold of Railways 1st innings score

Notably, the 1st innings total of 241 runs from the Railways is now appearing too much for the home side. The top-order pair of Dhull and Sanat Sangwan tried to stabilize the Delhi innings but could not add more than 67 runs between them. Kohli’s early dismissal added concerns for Delhi. At lunch, the home side trail behind Railways by 73 runs with skipper Ayush Badoni carving a heroic half-century and Sumit Mathur supporting his captain on the crease on the other end. Sangwan has proved out to be the most successful bowler for the Railways clinching 2 wickets for his side including the precious one of Kohli.
