Irfan Pathan And Sanjay Manjrekar Clash Over Yashasvi Jaiswal Virat Kohli

Former India National Cricket Team players Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar were involved in a huge fight. This came after they were discussing the run out of Yashasvi Jaiswal after a mix-up with Virat Kohli in the ongoing fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

India National Cricket Team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal looked in a sublime touch during day two of the ongoing fourth Test against the Australia National Cricket Team. The opening batter played a magnificent innings and with the way he was going, he was looking all set for a big ton.

Horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli saw Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the hut for 82 runs at MCG

However, a horrible mixup with Virat Kohli saw Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the hut. The left-hander played a straight drive to mid-on against Scott Boland and immediately ran for the single but at the other end, Virat Kohli didn’t look keen.

Virat Kohli was watching the ball and was near his crease even though Jaiswal kept running. Pat Cummins attacked the ball and threw it at the striker’s end but missed the target. Alex Carey ran, collected the ball, and effected the run out to end the batter’s innings on 82 runs.

Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar engage in a massive fight over run out of Yashasvi Jaiswal

After day two of the match ended, Star Sports experts Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar were discussing the run out of Yashasvi Jaiswal. While the former was defending Virat Kohli, the latter pointed out it was Kohli’s mistake as they engaged in a heated argument.

Sanjay Manjrekar said that it was a schoolboy error from Virat Kohli as he looked back and then decided it wasn’t a run. He mentioned that if it was a bad call from Yashasvi Jaiswal, then Pat Cummins would’ve thrown the ball at the non-striker’s end. He said:

“We are thinking more from Virat Kohli’s side. It was a very school error that he looked back, and he decided that this was not run. This isn’t actually a call of a non-striker; it’s the striker’s. If the fielder Pat Cummins tried to run out, then if it was a bad call of Yashasvi Jaiswal, the throw would have been at the bowler’s end. Because he said no, Yashasvi had no chance. This is my assessment.”

This made Irfan Pathan cite an example, saying that if balls are to the point fielder, then the striker can refuse the call of non-striker. He explained:

“The truth of cricket is that if someone cuts the ball and the ball is in the hands of the point, then the call is of a non-striker. But the striker can sometimes refuse. Because he knows that the ball is in the hands of the point.”

This seemed to have not gone well with Sanjay Manjrekar as he said: “Irfan, this is about the point. We are talking about the back.”

Irfan Pathan then kept his point and stated that he was giving his opinion and was not shielding the batter, pointing out that he even talked about the mistakes of the batter yesterday. He said:

“No, I am talking about the behind Sanjay Bhai, you are not understanding what I am trying to say. Because of what you said about truth and lies, here we are not talking about truth and lies. We are talking about opinion. And not because of Virat Kohli. When we spoke about Virat Kohli yesterday, then what were we all doing here?”

Sanjay Manjrekar then replied: “If you don’t want to let me talk, then it’s okay. Look, the point is not a good example.”

Irfan Pathan again tried to justify his point, saying: “When we talk about the back, the then the call is of a non-striker. But the striker can sometimes refuse. Because he knows that the ball is in the hands of the point.”

However, this irked Sanjay Manjrekar more as he mockingly said that they should bring some changes in the coaching book according to Irfan Pathan’s new interpretation of running between the wickets. He explained:

“Okay, we should bring some changes in the coaching book. Irfan Pathan’s new interpretation of running between the wicket should be included in the coaching book. If there is a run in the back, then even if the non-striker sees it, he will decide whether there is a run or not.”
