Sam Konstas is quite a character on the field and it was evident during Day 5 of the Melbourne Test between Australia and India. Just like he did in India’s first innings, Konstas showed the famous shoulder barge to the crowd referring it to the famous incident with Virat Kohli.
The youngster seemed to be enjoying his time out in the field. But the Indian crowd at the MCG didn’t spare him. The crowd behind him chanted name of “Kohli” multiple times to disrupt the youngster’s concentration.
The crowd didn’t stop there and even shouted, “Kohli is your father”. Konstas seemed unfazed by these comments and responded with the famous shoulder barge between him and Virat Kohli during the first day of the Melbourne Test.

It is to be noted that the Australian media recently used derogatory remarks with comments like “Who is your father” referring to the controversy between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas. They even used words like ‘clown’ for Kohli.
The former India cricketers even slammed them for being disrespectful towards the star the star Indian players and targeting him unneccessarily. The Australian media even targeted the Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
Where it all started?
Earlier on the first day of the match, Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas were involved in a controversy with a shoulder collision incident. After the end of 10th over of Australia’s innings, Kohli seemed to change his path suddenly and barged his shoulders into the youngster.
After colliding the shoulder, Virat Kohli turned back and looked at Konstas. Both the players had an argument with each other before Usman Khawaja jumped in and calmed them down.
The umpire Michael Gough also had to come in between to calm down the situation. After the end of day’s play, Kohli was charged 20 percent of his match fees.
However, the matter hit the headlines of Australian newspapers as they slammed Kohli for his behaviour. The Australian crowd at the ground even booed Kohli whenever he went near the boundary.
Sam Konstas’ thrilling Test debut
Meanwhile, Sam Konstas had a thrilling Test debut as he slammed a quickfire 60 off 65 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. The 19-year-old batted in a spectacular fashion and took India’s premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah to the cleaners with some unorthodox shots.
Bumrah took the revenge in the second innings as he bowled Konstas with a peach of a delivery. On the other hand, Virat Kohli had another poor outing in this Test match. Kohli registered scores of 36 and 5 across the two innings.
Australia have tightened its grip on the game with an excellent bowling performance on the fifth day. India is still fighting hard and will be looking to draw this match.
